CAT 2018 important dates:

8th August – Registration starts
19th September (5 PM) – Registration ends
24th October – Release of admit cards
25th November – CAT exam
2nd week of January 2019 – Declaration of results

CAT 2018 exam pattern:

 Exam to have 3 sections:

1. Verbal ability and reading comprehension
2. Data interpretation and logical reasoning
3. Quantitative ability

The exam will contain 100 questions in total.
Each question will carry 3 marks.
For MCQ questions, 1 mark will be deducted for an incorrect answer.
For Type in the answer (TITA) questions, there will be no penalty for incorrect answers.

 CAT 2018 age limit:

IIMs do not impose any restriction on the age of the candidates appearing for the test. Therefore, CAT 2018 will not have any age limit.

Educational qualification:

The candidate should hold a bachelor’s degree or an equivalent professional degree (CA/CS/ICWA). Candidates in the final year of graduation can also apply. Candidates must have a minimum aggregate of 50% in graduation (45% for SC/ST and PWD candidates). Also, Candidates should follow the procedure stipulated by their institute while converting their CGPA to percentage.

CAT 2018 syllabus:

CAT exam does not have a prescribed syllabus as such. However, we can group the type of questions that appear in the exam under some common topics. Going through CAT 2018 syllabus PDF can help to get some idea about the topics from which questions frequently appear in the exam.

How to apply online for CAT 2018 exam?

The link for applying to the exam will be available from 8th of August to 19th of September ( 5 PM), according to the CAT 2018 notification. Candidates should prefer applying well in advance to avoid any last minute hassles. Candidates will have to enter 4 cities in their order of preference. Allotment of cities will take place only after the registration window ends.

Calculate the percentage scores of class X and class XII accurately. Avoid rounding off the decimal part as it can cause unwanted troubles during the interview stage. Also, aspirants from boards where best 5 of 6 scores are taken into account should have in mind that they are supposed to enter their overall percentage (not best 5). Candidates should take care while entering their details in the application form.

IIMs have revised the fee to Rs. 1900 from Rs. 1800 in 2017. The fee will be Rs. 950 for candidates belonging to SC/ST and PWD categories.
